Jobs in science and technology are some of the fastest-growing worldwide, and innovations in this field will be crucial for tackling global challenges. Yet half of the world’s population still face profound gaps in access to education and employment, especially in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)— only 30% of the world’s researchers are women. The UN Foundation’s Girl Up initiative offers two unique STEM opportunities and boot camps hosted across the US, Mexico, and India. These six girls have attended the events, and inspire us to close the gender gap in STEM.
