For generations, women in Jakarta, Indonesia have spent up to six hours daily making tireless trips to collect safe water. One local, Sariati, used to spend a large portion of her income on purchasing water from a vendor to mitigate the water-related issues. Through small affordable loans from Water.org’s program WaterCredit, Sariati was able to construct a water tap on her property. As a housekeeper, Sariati can now fill pots and vessels with safe water, and apply her savings towards tuition for her son’s schooling and healthier food for her family.
