The COVID-19 pandemic has led to food insecurity worldwide, and many vulnerable communities now face hardships in accessing essential goods.
To support those struggling with the impact of COVID-19, the Caterpillar Foundation with the help of our Caterpillar facility in Indiana, is proud to support Food Finders Food Bank. The Indiana-based organization is on a mission to end hunger by serving the immediate needs of the community through food distribution programs, while simultaneously teaching skills that increase self-sufficiency.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Food Finders Food Bank shifted its priorities to ensure that vulnerable community members had access to food. During a time of social-distancing mandates, the organization increased the number of mobile pantries in most counties, serving entire families and seniors in an effort to mobilize resources for the greatest impact during the crisis. Its drive through pantry in Lafayette served 1,400 households per week. In addition, Food Finders expanded its Mobile Pantry Program in 15 counties, serving an average of 150 households three times a month.
The mission: to serve those in need, when they need it most. Across its operations, Food Finders Food Bank worked to create solutions to remain open, while maintaining the safety of clients, staff, and the National Guard.
Since 2013, the Caterpillar Foundation has been a steady partner to Food Finders Food Bank, helping them achieve their mission. The Foundation views hunger as an issue that is solvable as we work together to create change.
