#GivingTuesday Sparks Global Participation Post Thanksgiving

After Thanksgiving, shoppers eagerly participate in Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In 2012, the 92nd Street Y in New York and the United Nations Foundation launched Giving Tuesday, occurring annually on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, with the hope that after several days of big sales and rampant consumption there would be an interest in giving back. Non-profits all over the world have hosted fundraisers and events as a part of the #GivingTuesday movement, contributing nearly $250 million in 2017.
