A Water System in Bangladeshi Capital Allows Children to Play

In the slums of the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, Shefaly and her family used to rely on an inconsistent hand pump to obtain their water. The trips took Shefaly away from her home and work and became a laborious job. When she connected with a field officer from Water.org, Shefaly applied for a loan and was able to design a new system that includes a deeper well, a submersible pump, and a series of taps inside her home and out for the rest of the community. Today, her courtyard sees a steady stream of neighborhood women gathering water, while their kids play and laugh in the surrounding area.
